Styles of men's jeans

Fashionable and stylish, American jeans are a piece of clothing that a man can wear in almost any situation. However, choosing the right denim pants is a more difficult task than it seems at first glance. Whether jeans will sit attractively on a figure often determines the style. Therefore, before buying a specific model, it is worth understanding the styles of jeans and their correspondence to body types.

How to choose the style of men's jeans

The style of men's jeans is traditionally determined by two main parameters: fit height and leg cut. The cut of jeans implies parameters that determine the "narrowness" or width of the model. There is no general standard for naming styles, so the same cut can be called differently.

  • Straight jeans. Such products are called classic, with a standard cut. They can have straight, moderately narrow or slightly narrowed legs, they do not cover the shoes much, they lie on it. The advantage of straight-cut jeans is their ability to slim any figure, so they are suitable for men of any physique. Straight jeans are also attractive for their versatility, they can be used as a democratic office wear and as leisure wear (especially if you choose a non-standard color). Straight models can be combined with classic shoes, youth and sports shoes. They are present in the modern collections of many American brands, both the famous Levays and Wrangler, as well as younger fashion houses.
  • Flare. Another versatile model that fits perfectly on a figure of almost any type. The product is a long pants, tightly fitting the hips, has a low waist and legs, expanding closer to the ankles. These jeans have been fashionable for a long time, they can be safely worn at a business meeting, and on a date, and in a club.
  • Wide jeans. Such models have a medium or high fit, are free in the hip area, have wide legs. Wide products sit freely, it is difficult to determine the shape of the body under them. Moderately wide jeans are recommended for those who want to disguise their legs and wide pelvis, and they also look great on owners of athletic muscles. If the shoulders are very wide, a wide model should be preferred, gradually tapering downwards, this will give the figure a proportionality.
  • Skinny jeans. This is the name of tight-fitting legs, skinny models of denim pants. Tight products emphasize and repeat the natural silhouette of the legs. They will look great on thin men of average height. It is better for overweight representatives of the stronger sex to avoid such models, as they tend to emphasize not only the pluses, but also the minuses of the figure.

landing height

Rise height refers to the distance from the button at the waist to the base of the crotch (this is the point where the legs meet each other). The level at which the “waist” zone of the model will be indicated, where the belt is traditionally located, depends on the landing height. The fit of jeans is also referred to as waist height.

Jeans can have the following types of fit:

  • very low fit - this is the lowest option¸ slightly above the pubic bone;
  • low and medium landing - on the hips;
  • standard fit - these jeans sit at the base of the hips, slightly below waist level;
  • at the waist - the model sits at the level of the waist;
  • high rise - jeans cover the navel, landing above waist level.

When choosing a model fit, you need to remember that the low waist of jeans lengthens the torso and shortens the legs. Whereas the high waist of the pants due to the torso optically makes the legs longer. These days, low-waist jeans for men are considered the standard, such models are characterized by increased convenience.
