An extra day in such a year is added due to the date February 29.

The concept of “leap year” appeared due to the difference in calendar and astronomical calculations. Astronomers take into account when calculating that a year (that is, the period during which the planet makes a full circle around the Sun) contains 365.25 days. In a normal calendar year such calculations are not applicable, so it was decided that a year is equal to 365 days. However, the remainder of 0.25 days cannot just disappear, so every four years, when an “extra” day accumulates, it is added to the February calendar.

Is 2018 a leap year or not?

Determining whether a new period will be considered a leap period is not difficult at all. It is enough to divide the number of the year by the number 4. If the final value turns out to be an integer, it is a leap year, and if as a result of the calculations we get a remainder, then it is quite normal. Thus, we can reassure you with the information that 2018 includes only 365 days, because 18:4 gives a total of 4.5. In addition, the leap year occurred quite recently - in 2016, and if you observe a period of 4 years, then you need to prepare for a difficult period no earlier than 2020.

The monthly working hours for 2018 are lowest in January. This is due to long New Year holidays. There is one public holiday in February; before this date, the working day for all employees must be shortened by 1 hour.

The working time standard for June 2018 contains a transfer of days off, implemented within one month. The hourly work standard is set taking into account the public holiday on June 12 and a shortened shift the day before (20 working days x 8 hours in each working day - 1 hour shortened before the holiday = 159 hours per month).

The working time standard in July 2018 does not have any “holiday” nuances; it reflects only full working days. Let's look at an example of calculating the July standard:

in relation to a basic 40-hour week – 176 hours (22 working days x 8 hours of daily work);
for a 36-hour weekly output, the standard is 158.4 hours (22 working days x 7.2 hours of work per day);
with a 24-hour weekly norm, the hourly working time per month will be 105.6 hours (22 working days x 4.8 hours of daily work).

The standard working hours in August 2018 do not include holidays or shortened days. Additional days There is no rest even in September-October. There is one holiday in November, but before it there is no reduction in working hours. In December there is an intra-month transfer and 1 shortened day on the 29th.

Formula for calculating standard working hours

The standard working time for a specific month is calculated using the following algorithm:

Duration of the working week in hours / 5 x Number of working days in a particular month according to the production calendar for a five-day working week - Hours by which working hours were reduced in the month in question on pre-holiday dates.

The annual standard of working time is calculated in a similar way, only the number of all working days in a year and the total annual number of hours by which work is reduced on holidays are taken into account.

It should be taken into account that the normal length of the working week should not exceed 40 hours, including during the “six-day work week” (Article 91 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation).

Norm for cumulative accounting

When summarizing work time, the accountant must focus on the standards of the calculation interval approved at the enterprise, without linking it separately to each month. During one such interval, the employee’s time sheet may alternate between periods of overtime and underwork, and based on the total amount of hours for the required period, compliance with the standard is obtained.

For example, the standard working hours for 2018 in the date range from January to March with a 40-hour week are equal to 446 hours (136 hours + 151 hours + 159 hours). The employee’s timesheets for the indicated months recorded the following data on work:

in January 122 hours against the norm of 136 hours;
in February 159 hours against the standard of 151 hours;
in March, 165 hours were worked, which is 6 hours higher than the base rate of 159 hours.

As a result, in 3 months the person worked the required 446 hours (122 + 159 + 165), there is no overtime, the employee will receive a salary in the required amount.
